The Scientific Management Review Board (SMRB) advises and makes recommendations to the HHS Secretary and the 51ÊÓƵ Director on the use of organizational authorities authorized in the 51ÊÓƵ Reform Act of 2006.

Nominated by the HHS Secretary, the SMRB is comprised of directors of 51ÊÓƵ institutes and centers and individuals from 51ÊÓƵ-funded institutions or with broad expertise regarding how the 51ÊÓƵ functions. The SMRB conveys advice and recommendations on the use of organizational authorities regarding 51ÊÓƵ institutes and centers and the Office of the Director through reports to the 51ÊÓƵ Director.
